    Description

Like most learners, you have had the experience of 'grading yourself' as you listen to a French podcast or watch a French film. By grading yourself, I mean that when the recording or film has ended, you say, "Well I understood 80% of that," or, "I only caught few words." After you've given yourself that grade and told yourself that you are either happy or unhappy with that score, what do you do to improve your comprehension so that you'll understand more of the next podcast, film, or dinner conversation?

In this course, I'll teach you how (even if you are a beginner) to use audio recordings to improve your oral comprehension. This method is easy and gives predictable results. After 4 days, you'll have learned how to take a new recording in hand and work through it systematically. Once you know how to do this, you'll be able to make steady, predictable improvements in oral comprehension, even if you don't yet live in France.

If you are a person who thinks that the French speak too quickly and that you are not ready for full-speed spoken French, this course will be a big eye-opener for you.

This will be the second session for this course. The first session was in February. The students in the first session were happy to have this new tool in their 'French learning tool set.' They told me in phone calls conducted a week after the course was over that they were using the new method and were very happy with how effective it was. They agreed that I should offer the course again. One student said that I had found a great learning method for lazy people! She meant it as a compliment and said that she could see that this method was going to help her reach listening fluency more quickly.

    Frequently-asked questions

What will the course do for me?
Answer: Learn how to improve your comprehension BEFORE you move to France. (Many persons think you have to move to France to learn to understand spoken French. This is not accurate.)

If I am a beginner, should I wait a year before taking the course?
Answer: Given the low price, I think you should take the course now. I feel that knowing how to learn from a recording of native speakers is the most important tool I have in my 'language learning toolset.' It is what helped me finally achieve 'listening fluency.' You won't wake up speaking fluently tomorrow; but you'll have a new approach, a new 'language learning activity' that is easy to use and easy to fit into your daily schedule.

Is it too late to sign up? (I started to order, but then was asked for a shipping address.)
Answer: Oops! Sorry about that. I just fixed the order page so that it no longer asks for a shipping address. Everything is online: webinars, email, a private website to which I'll be sending you a link. So no, if you still see this order page, it is not too late to sign up. I'll remove this order page a bit before the course starts.

I can't make those times - can I just get the recordings?
Answer:I hope to offer this course again; so please do not signup this time. Regarding recordings, I've had this request from many persons. If I can figure out how to teach this information without some interaction I will put that into place so you don't have to talk to me on French time.

What if I can't connect to the webinar part?
Answer: I'll need to refund you and then contact you so we can work out what I need to do differently next time, so that you can take the course and get the training. So far, I've tried 3 other video conference services before switching to Zoom. With the other services I had lots of folks who could not connect. Since I switched to Zoom, things have worked well.

What if it turns out that I already know what you are teaching?
Answer: then I'll need to refund you because that would only be fair. However, from experience, I know that almost no one knows how to do this. It's easy; but for some reason, people need their hand held as they walk through it the first few times.
