Nathalie Faucher spoke with Rémy about the birth of
his daughter. As his wife prepared to take care of the
baby, Rémy took care of technical and administrative
details, such as checking up on health care coverage
and making sure his car was full of gas for the big
trip (almost 1 kilometer!) to the hospital.
- Lorient et la bataille de l’Atlantique.
Lorient played an important role in the Battle of the
Atlantic : it served as the headquarters of Admiral
Dönitz, head of the U-boat fleet. The huge submarine
base is still standing, but the rest of the city was
razed by Allied bombardments.
